Sleep Disorders Center
At Mather’s hospital-based Sleep Disorders Center, physicians certified in sleep medicine can help identify causes of your sleep disruption in an effort to minimize the impact that a lack of quality sleep can have on quality of life and overall health. The Center diagnoses sleep disorders in adults, adolescents and children as young as two years old. The Sleep Disorders Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine for meeting nationally recognized standards of excellence in healthcare, education and research.
After a thorough medical examination, some patients may undergo an overnight sleep study. Patients who stay at the Center overnight (or during the day for night workers) enjoy a private room, complete with a comfortable queen-sized bed, flat screen television and private bath. Technologists attach monitoring equipment to the patient, who is then permitted to go about his/her nightly routine.
Our center uses only New York State certified respiratory therapists and registered sleep study technologists to monitor the study and data collection. Physicians associated with the Center are board certified in pulmonary medicine as well as sleep medicine. There is also a neurologist on the Center’s staff. As a hospital-based center, our staff has the immediate back-up of an acute care medical facility.
Most insurance plans cover sleep studies when prescribed by a primary care physician.
