Comprehensive Medical Weight Management Program
Arif Ahmad, MD, Medical Director
The Comprehensive Medical Weight Management Program utilizes simple, sound principles to help individuals achieve optimal health and maintain their best personal body weight.
Supervised by a physician who specializes in weight loss, patients within the program achieved an average weight loss of 24 pounds by three months, and most patients who continued in our maintenance program experienced further weight loss. After one year, 28 patients in the program maintained an average weight loss of 35.6 pounds.
Each participant receives a full nutrition evaluation, weekly support, follow ups and metabolic testing. Food and nutritional quality are emphasized to help ensure optimal health. An individualized meal plan is customized to each participant’s health goals and lifestyle. To help reinforce and maintain new lifestyle behaviors, a 16-week maintenance program is available after the initial program.
All meetings and classes are conducted by Registered Dietitian Nutritionists who have advanced degrees in nutrition, health and lifestyle behavior. Education classes are held at convenient times weekly for 10 consecutive weeks.
Exercise is encouraged to help participants maintain weight loss and healthy behaviors. A 10-week circuit training exercise program is also available for a separate fee through Mather Hospital’s Outpatient Physical Therapy Center. Products are available for those who choose meal replacements to expedite weight loss and provide quality nutrition.
