Department: Patient Accounts Weekly Hours: Full Time (37.5 hrs/wk)
Job Title: Patient Account Representative Shift: Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM
Qualifications:

Must have good typing, math, and computer skills.  Knowledge of health insurers including but not limited to Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial Payers and medical terminology preferred.  Good organizational skills.  Ability to work independently.  Ability to communicate with colleague’s, patients, physician practices, and clinical staff in a calm, caring and sympathetic manner.  Experience with Microsoft Access, Excel and Soarian Financials preferred.  Some college preferred.

Duties:
Bill accounts accurately and in a timely manner. Perform all account follow ups. Must be familiar with all individual signed contracts and know how to interpret hospital Managed Care reimbursement arrangements.  Communicates (either verbal or written) with insurance companies or patients in an intelligent manner regarding billing and payments.  Educates patients and public at large, re: insurance carrier requirement, J.T. Mather’s participation in managed care plans.  Assists/directs patients and on staff physicians’ offices with billing inquiries.  Promptly answers patient questions regarding insurance coverage or responds back to patient inquiries within a short period of time when information is unknown and has to be researched.  Provides accurate itemized bill at patients’ request.  Adjust accounts properly.  Performs other duties assigned by the supervisor.
