Department: Clinical Documentation Improvement/Utilization Review Weekly Hours: Full Time (37.5 hrs/wk)
Job Title: Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist Shift: 8:00AM-4:00 OR 9:00AM-5:00PM
Weekends/Holidays: Weekends, Holidays
Qualifications:

Registered Nurse with minimum of 2 years med/surg and/or critical care experience.  Knowledge of DRGs, Interqual/Milliman criteria and ICD-10 coding preferred.  Ability to be detail oriented.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Excellent rapport with all staff.  Ability to work independently.  Experience with MIDAS+ software preferred.  Excellent computer skills.  Ongoing education is required.  BSN preferred/CDI experience a plus.

Duties:
Perform concurrent and/or retrospective chart reviews to ensure quality documentation of the patient’s disease process(es).  Communicate with physicians to obtain detailed documentation for optimal DRG assignment.  Query physicians for documentation needs.  Attends interdisciplinary rounds as appropriate. Assist with all aspects of CDI educational needs, data collection, analysis and reporting.  Provide education to physicians, residents, and all staff.  Attend all department meetings, seminars, and educational workshops related to CDI.
